THE GIRL BEHIND THE SCENES

Everyone has stories to tell. My passion for both photography and videography grew when I bought my first ever DSLR camera in February 2015. I started taking photos since that day and went into my first video shoot and edit for my cousin's engagement day. I am also very curious about how a film production team achieved realistic explosions and other heavy-effects in their films. Hence, I started to go into visual effects and video editing to explore new creative ideas in filmmaking.
I became a freelance photo/videographer and editor every semester break and I make sure I would produce a good, if not, better quality photos and videos after every project. One project is never good enough. I believe that the more projects I do, the more things I learn. This then enhances my creativity and experience.

The years in school and working as a film & media production freelancer sure has changed me. It has changed me to become a creative, discipline and an all-rounder individual.
With this, let me bring you on a journey to explore different stories through photographs and videos that I have taken and edited.

EDUCATIONAL & WORK HISTORY
September 2018 - September 2020
BACHELOR OFÂ COMMUNICATION
I graduated with a Bachelor of Communication with Distinction, majoring in Journalism and Public Relations from The University of Newcastle, Australia. Throughout this two-year course, I relived my childhood dream of becoming a journalist - learning the skills one takes to be a broadcast and radio journalist. I put in visual effects elements and applied the different video techniques that I have learnt from my polytechnic days to produce and enhance my school's video assignments.
February 2017 - Present
FREELANCE PRODUCTION
I have been and am still taking up freelance job ever since I graduated from school and internship. I freelance as a wedding & event photographer, videographer, soundman, production assistant and video editor.
September 2016 - February 2017
STUDENT INTERNSHIP
A compulsory 6-months student internship in my third year in the polytechnic. I got attached to onedash22 - a film and video production company. The period I learnt almost everything about the film and media industry; from pre-production to production to post-production.
April 2014 - May 2017
DIPLOMA IN VISUAL EFFECTS
Three-year Diploma programme offered by the School of Film & Media Studies in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, this course was my first choice because I wanted to learn and find out more about the post-production side of the film and media industry. Moreover, I am curious to know how they managed to create explosions and heavy-effects scenes in films.
